Did you know RJL Solutions has an internship program called RJL University? RJL University, a.k.a. RJLU, is our unique, hands-on approach to internships that bridges the gap between education and industry. We provide our interns with a variety of different projects that pique their interest and allow them to explore the different departments of RJL to teach them what it’s like to be a part of a fast-paced team of kick-a** professionals. From Government Relations to Communications to Grants and Strategic Planning, each of our dedicated mentors takes interns under their wings and teaches them how to fly.
What’s a mentor? Each intern is assigned a mentor that is responsible for providing an excellent learning environment for our interns and passes on what they have learned in their own experiences. Think of them as the Jedi Knights to the Padawan, Gandalf to the Fellowship, Mushu to Mulan, or Gordon Bombay to the Mighty Ducks. They are here as a guide and provide an excellent learning environment for our interns through engaging projects, networking opportunities, as well as empowering them to grow as leaders.
Another great aspect of RJLU is our weekly one-hour themed, professional development meeting with an RJL team member. Each professional development meeting covers a different topic chosen by our team that can range from developing your personal brand, tips and tricks on becoming a valuable team member, our own career journeys, to time management, email etiquette, and more. It’s the perfect time to interact with other interns and learn important skills from the professionals at RJL!
One of my favorite parts of our internship program is the intern final project presentations. During each semester, our interns identify a project of their choosing that they want to develop and present to the entire RJL Team. Mentors help their interns through the process of identifying what their project is and guide them as they begin developing the pieces of how to make their projects work. We’ve had a lot of exciting presentations over the years from potential events held in downtown Terre Haute and Indy to how our government relations interns would advocate/lobby to pass specific legislation to developing marketing campaigns and social media strategies for their dream clients. The limit does not exist! RJLU interns become an integral part of our RJL team during their internships. Whether in the Fall, Spring, or Summer, there is nothing (at least to me) more exciting than onboarding the next group of interns and watching them interact with their mentors and collaborate with each other to accomplish the task ahead. If you’re looking for an internship in a top-notch learning environment, look no further than RJLU.
