At RJL Solutions, our beginnings may have been different, but the lessons we learned from those early jobs are universal. They taught us to work hard, lead with kindness, and value the connections we make along the way. No matter where you start, the skills you gain and the experiences you have can prepare you for greatness. Everyone starts somewhere—and with persistence and passion, the possibilities are endless.

Betsy, Chief Operating Officer

At just 11 years old, Betsy’s first job was at Pumpkin Works, where she learned the importance of respecting authority and leading by example. Climbing on hay bales may have been tempting, but she realized her actions set the tone for guests. She also learned how to prioritize responsibility over fun and gained a deep appreciation for the behind-the-scenes effort that creates joy for others. These lessons still resonate in her role today as she helps lead our team with creativity and accountability.

Ryan, Vice President of Government Relations

Ryan’s first job at the Downtown Muncie YMCA front desk taught him professionalism, dependability, and confidence. From managing employees to dealing with disgruntled customers, he learned to navigate challenges with composure and reliability. The foundation of professionalism he built there continues to shape his approach to leadership and teamwork.

Hannah, Vice President of Public Affairs and Association Management

Starting as a “Sandwich Artist” at Subway, Hannah learned the value of a strong work ethic and exceptional customer service. She navigated late-night closings and challenging customers with kindness and perseverance, skills that serve her well in the world of politics. Listening with a smile—even when disagreements arise—is a strength she developed early on.

Danielle, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives

Working at a local tumbling and dance studio in high school, Danielle honed her communication and time management skills. Whether it was interacting with children, colleagues, or supervisors, she learned how to balance priorities and manage responsibilities—a skill set that’s vital to her success today.

T.J., Senior Director of Business Development

T.J.’s first role was right here at RJL Solutions as a Relationship Development Specialist. This experience quickly taught him the value of consistent client communication and building strong relationships. The mantra of “make friends and keep friends” continues to guide his approach to business development.

Jacy, Executive Assistant

Jacy’s first job as an Admissions Counselor at Ashford University taught her the importance of customer service and meeting deadlines. These foundational skills have helped her excel in supporting our team with efficiency and precision.

Kelly, Senior Director of Marketing

At Frosty Boy in New Palestine, Indiana, Kelly learned to take pride in her work. Whether crafting the perfect ice cream treat or managing marketing campaigns, she carries that same care and effort into everything she does. It’s a mindset that has shaped her career and continues to brighten the days of those she works with.

Allison, Social Media Manager

As a YMCA lifeguard, Allison learned the importance of attention to detail, teamwork, and clear communication—skills that are critical in social media management. Her ability to stay calm under pressure, whether managing a crisis or a busy pool deck, makes her an asset to any campaign.

Ashley, Director of Marketing

Ashley’s first job as a Kmart cashier pushed her out of her comfort zone and taught her the value of kindness, grace, and taking pride in her work. Whether it was engaging in small talk with customers or learning that a smile can brighten someone’s day, these lessons continue to influence her approach to marketing and leadership.

Hailee, Creative Advertising Manager

Working at Chick-fil-A taught Hailee the power of connection, grace under pressure, and teamwork. From navigating rushes to prioritizing tasks, she learned how to make every person feel valued and every shift successful. These lessons help her craft creative campaigns that resonate with audiences.

Krista, Technical Writer & Data Analyst

Krista’s first job at a coffee shop in Bloomington, Indiana, taught her the importance of positivity and effective communication. Whether solving complex problems or building relationships, she learned that positivity strengthens connections and makes work more enjoyable.

Ethan, Associate Planner

As a bicycle mechanic at a local bike shop in Massachusetts, Ethan developed patience and teamwork—skills he leaned on especially during the early days of COVID-19. His ability to stay calm and collaborative under pressure continues to guide his work today.

Rhiannon, Director of Strategic Planning

Working in her father’s sandblasting and welding shop, Rhiannon learned the value of attention to detail, work ethic, persistence, and humility. Whether tackling small projects or major initiatives, she approaches every task with respect and care, a mindset that has been key to her success.
